We are creators of land-based art,
story-tellers & mythic-dancers,
mask-makers & puppet-performers,
willow-weavers & earth-tenders,
community-crafters & culture-menders...

From our studios & gardens by the bank of the Willamette River, (straight down the hill from St. Johns in North Portland, Oregon), we create artistic happenings rooted in ritual, folklore, and ancestral skills.

We create them because we are a community of passionate individuals who see that modern life for so many people lacks sacred beauty & connection to nature, and because we each felt a calling to meet this need for ourselves & for others.

Do you feel a resonance with this too?

If so, we invite you to join us for our May Day River Procession & Beltane Ritual each Spring.

And each November you can be a part of our
All Souls River Procession, currently in its 4th year.

At other times of the year you might like to volunteer to build beautiful parade puppets with us, while spending time with like-minded folks and getting to learn some pretty great paper mache skills.

Or you can take a class at our workshop beside the river to learn how to create a festive mask you can wear, or a paper lantern made with locally-grown willow branches.

Since 2021, Wildland Roots has operated as a volunteer-run arts collective:
We rely on the generosity of our community
to keep our creative projects going.
