In Spring, Summer and Fall we invite volunteers to join us for paper mache and puppet-building days at our Green Anchors workshop. Learn the secrets to creating giant masks, puppets, and luminaries as we build amazing new pieces for various free processional events thoughout the year. Mainly suited for adults, but kids can come if they are willing to help their adults.
We recommend you dress for an outdoor location. We have a covered workspace but we are right by the river where it tends to be slightly cooler than the rest of Portland, and sometimes breezy. Also we will be using paste and sometimes clay or paint so don't wear your best outfit. We typically take a lunch break from noon to one, so bring a bag lunch to enjoy by the river, or plan to grab a quick bite up the hill in downtown St Johns.
Check our calendar for upcoming volunteer day dates and times, and please RSVP if you are planning to join us.
We also post other volunteer opportunities via our volunteer mailing list and our newsletter, such as carrying puppets in processions.
Thanks so much for your interest in volunteering with us!
